• All jewelry is made with nickel free materials. The metals used are 100%
brass, iron, stainless steel, 24k gold-plated brass, and occasionally sterling
silver. Other materials used include (but are not limited to) resin, acrylic, cotton (tassels), glass beads, plastic, crystals (both genuine and manufactured), and polymer clay.

  • Nickel is a metal alloy (an alloy is a combination of metals) that can cause an allergic reaction. you can develop a nickel allergy by coming into contact with nickel regularly- which is true for about 18% of jewelry or earring wearers. Because symptoms of a nickel allergy include redness, swelling, itchiness, or other uncomfortable reactions, I like to play it safe and steer clear of materials containing nickel for jewelry. Nickel can oftentimes turn skin green when wearing for extended periods of time. This is because the metal is reacting with oxygen to form copper or nickel oxide, called verdigris, which are green. While none of these reactions are particularly harmful or lasting, I prefer to create jewelry that will stand the test of time without detracting from your comfort or aesthetics.

  • When possible, I source materials that can be recycled, upcycled, or are sold by other small businesses. in other words, I like to go yard-saleing, antiquing, and thrift shopping to find
items or materials that could be given a second life. I also like to source jewelry findings from fellow small businesses online.
